Dreyer Welcomes New Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist

Paula C. Gewarges, D.O., (pronounced ga-WARE-gus), has joined the Department of Psychiatry at Dreyer Medical Clinic, and is seeing child and adolescent patients at the Clinic’s West Downer Place location.
Dr. Gewarges, known to her patients as Dr. Paula, received her undergraduate degree from Colorado College in Colorado Springs, Colorado in 1985, and received a Master of Arts in Educational Psychology from the University of Chicago in 1992. She earned a medical degree from Midwestern University/College of Osteopathic Medicine in Chicago, Illinois in 1993. Dr. Gewarges completed a residency in general psychiatry with Northwestern University in Chicago, Illinois in 1997, where she was chief resident from July 1996 to December 1996. She also completed a residency in child psychiatry at the University of Colorado in Denver, Colorado in 1999. Dr. Gewarges is board certified in psychiatry and child and adolescent psychiatry. She has hospital affiliations with Provena Mercy Medical Center and Rush-Copley Medical Center. Dr. Gewarges is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Psychiatric Association, the American Society of Adolescent Psychiatry, the American Medical Association, and the American Osteopathic Association. She offers Saturday and evening hours. Her special interests include child and adolescent psychiatry, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, ADHD and comorbid mood disorders, adult ADHD, bipolar spectrum disorder(s), diagnostic evaluation and assessment of autistic spectrum disorder(s), infant psychiatry, effects of parental loss, eating disorders, and teenage substance abuse and conduct disorders. |
