Dreyer Medical Clinic Welcomes Four New Providers

Katherine F. Kouvelis, M.D., has joined Dreyer Medical Clinic’s Department of General, Thoracic, and Vascular Surgery at the Clinic’s Mercy Campus site. A 1989 graduate of Loyola University in Chicago, Illinois, Dr. Kouvelis received her medical degree at Rush Medical College in Chicago in 1993. She then completed an internship and residency at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles, California, in 1998. She also completed a fellowship in 1999 at the University of Texas Medical Center in Houston, Texas. Dr. Kouvelis is board certified in General Surgery and Colon and Rectal Surgery. She is a member of the American College of Surgeons, the American Society of Colon and Rectal Surgeons, and the Society of Laparoendoscopic Surgeons. In addition to English, she speaks Greek and some Spanish.


Marisa Mackay, A.P.N. /C.N.P., a certified nurse practitioner, joined the Department of Obstetrics/Gynecology at Dreyer Medical Clinic, and is seeing patients at the Clinic’s Mercy Campus and Rush-Copley Campus sites. Ms. Mackay received her undergraduate degree in 2005 from Aurora University in Aurora, Illinois, and earned her graduate degree from Loyola University in Maywood, Illinois in 2007. She is a certified Nurse Practitioner and is a member of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women’s Health.

Jodi A. Pelegrin, D.O., joined the Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and Musculoskeletal Medicine at Dreyer Medical Clinic and is seeing patients at the Clinic’s Mercy Campus site. Dr. Pelegrin received her undergraduate degree from the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire, Wisconsin in 1986, and earned a graduate degree from Illinois State University in Normal, Illinois in 1989. She earned her medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in Kirksville, Missouri in 1997. She completed a residency at Metropolitan Hospital in Grand Rapids, Michigan in 2000, and a fellowship at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2001. Dr. Pelegrin is board certified in Family Practice and Sports Medicine. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the American Osteopathic Academy of Sports Medicine, and is a member of the Editorial Board of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association.

Richard W. Puls, M.D., joined the Walk-In Care Department at Dreyer Medical Clinic’s Batavia, Fox Valley Villages, and West Aurora sites. Dr. Puls received his undergraduate degree in 1992 from Loyola University in Maywood, Illinois and earned a medical degree from Rush Medical College in Chicago, Illinois in 1996. Dr. Puls completed a residency in 1999 from LaGrange Memorial Hospital in LaGrange, Illinois where he was Chief Resident for one year. He is board certified in Family Practice.
